DEI matters to us

At Merapar we are committed to creating an environment where everyone gets a chance to excel, and where diversity in all its forms is encouraged and celebrated.

We have ambitious targets for improving DEI, not only within Merapar but the Tech industry as a whole. Through continuous inspection and adaptation, and in line with our core Agile values, we are dedicated to improving. We want everyone to feel able to bring their full self to work.

Technology Principal

“Like many LGBTQ+ people, I agonised over coming out at work for many years, but when I finally took the plunge at Merapar, the level of support and encouragement I received from my colleagues really blew me away. My only regret is not doing it sooner.”

Scrum Master

“My background’s not always been visibly represented in my working environments, so I’ve often feared feeling like an outsider at work. At Merapar, I’ve felt seen and heard in a way that’s truly meaningful. I value our DEI group as a safe space to talk with likeminded colleagues about issues I’m passionate about, so we can advocate change.”

“I am proud to be a part of the Merapar DEI working group. It’s refreshing to work for a company who are fully invested in doing right by their team, irrespective of personal differences. There is a real pride in our culture; acceptance and opportunity for all is at the heart of this.”

Merapar continues to grow rapidly and we will invest more in training and development over the next financial year than ever before. We will ensure that DEI is at the heart of this expansion and have plenty of ideas to take forward. Here are some of the things we are working on in 2023:

DEI working group at Merapar to drive progress

Better reporting on Ethnic Diversity

Mental Health support initiatives

Improving Social Mobility

Modular training programme for graduates and team members

Merapar-flexible-working

Flexible Working at Merapar

We make it easier for team members with caring responsibilities or physical disabilities to contribute, without having to travel to an office every day. We also adapt our ways of working to support team members with neurodiversities, and those with mental health challenges.

Combining the latest remote collaboration tools with Agile methodologies, we’ve proven our ability to unite people from different countries as an effective team, irrespective of where they work from.

The right tools for the job

We provide all team members with the right equipment to work from home effectively and comfortably. We assess requirements for additional equipment based on each person’s individual needs.

Flexibility in your working day

Where possible and with your teams agreement, we offer flexible working hours and part time contracts. This allows you to meet care commitments, and can support parents, guardians and carers transition back to work.

Merapar-Training

Training and Development for all

We place great emphasis on training and development; we believe it’s a key factor that makes us unique. We invest in every team member to ensure they reach their full potential, heading in the direction they aspire to.

Support from the start

From, day one, your team will be there to support you in answering questions, providing guidance on development and career progression. We have a voluntary scheme to pair team members for regular chats, encouraging cross-communication between everyone, regardless of background or seniority level.

Support to learn

At Merapar your personal study plan will be fully supported. This can include technical and non-technical certifications, for instance, AWS or Google Cloud Developer, Cloud Architect and Scrum.org Scrum Master or Product Owner. We also encourage team members to run internal Meet-ups and Guilds to ensure knowledge is always shared.

Equal Pay Analysis

At Merapar, our global analysis shows we pay men and women in the same roles equally, however like all companies in the IT industry we have more men than women in senior technical positions, and currently, a predominantly male talent pool.

We are committed to monitoring, reporting and reducing this gap through improved representation, retention and career development for women at Merapar.
